What is a Warehouse Mezzanine?
A warehouse mezzanine floor system is an elevated floor/platform. Most of the time these structures are free-standing and can be dismantled and moved with relative ease. Industrial mezzanines are normally composed of steel. The flooring will vary based upon the specific application and requirement, but it is often made of steel (metal decking) or b-deck. Mezzanines can also be designed to accommodate a concrete flooring surface.
Mezzanine systems in a warehouse environment are an effective way to increase storage and/or workspace by allowing you to utilize the unused vertical space that already exists in your facility. After the mezzanine is constructed, the space beneath it is also accessible and can be used for storage, manufacturing, or other purposes. There are a few different types of mezzanines to choose from, but steel structural are the most common in warehouses.

Structural Mezzanine
Structural mezzanines allow you to utilize your existing plant space for a low-cost solution to expansion and yield exceptional weight capacities for endless versatility. Pre-engineered modular mezzanines offer a second, accessible floor to maximize as work, service and storage use.
Freestanding Mezzanines
A Free Standing Mezzanine allows maximum movement through and full utilization of floor level and mezzanine level space with no cross bracing between support columns.
Pick Modules
Pick modules are not a single piece of equipment. It is system using multiple pieces of equipment to create a pick module. There are several configuration possibilities available for pick modules. However, the majority of pick modules use the same basic components. These include:
- Pallet racking
- Mezzanine – usually supported by racking
- Conveyor
